TVA – TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY, BIG SALARIES, BIG BONUSES, BIG BROTHER SMART METERS, TIME OF USE RATES, SKYROCKETING UTILITY BILLS
Your home or business that uses a utility meter is a fixed location. Why does Cleveland Utilities want to change to wireless SMART METERS? Wireless smart meters are cheaper for utilities. If you are concerned about your privacy, security and health, and want an alternative to wireless smart meters, is Cleveland Utilities listening?
Cleveland Utilities is not offering an opt out or wired meters to their radio frequency wireless smart meters. Utilities want to save money, pay big salaries and bonuses, and yet charge you more for electricity use during certain times of the day. They also want to gather information about you and about your use of energy. There are third parties waiting in the wings, salivating for personal data, offering devices, appliances and other offers with information that they hope to receive about you from the utilities.
TVA, Cleveland Utilities plan to introduce time of use rates in 2011-2012. If this plan goes forward, you as a utility customer will be “nudged” or forced into changing your behavior, when you use electricity. The utilities want you to shift your use of energy to off peak hours. Should we believe that TVA and Cleveland Utilities want to lose money as you are pressured into cutting or altering your energy use. You will lose freedom to choose how you use energy as government holds the remote control. Flat rates and once a month meter readings will be gone. Government bullies want to know what you do at home when it comes to energy use. They will have the power to ration and shut off your utilities if they so desire.
The following individuals do not mind if you pay higher utilities rates. They are millionaires who can afford higher utility rates. Can you? They also want you to have a smart meter. Senator Lamar Alexander wants you to pay higher utility rates and to have a smart meter.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Now is not the time for the Tennessee Valley Authority’s chief to receive a raise that triples his annual salary to more than $3 million, according to a Bradley County commissioner.
TVA Chief Executive Officer Tom Kilgore was paid $3.6 million for the federal fiscal year ending in September. Bradley Commissioner Jeff Yarber has a resolution for next Monday’s commission voting session, asking TVA to reconsider the increase.
Tennessee Valley Authority executives and employees received more than $94 million in bonuses in 2010, which is much too generous considering the state of the economy and the debt the federal utility carries on its books.
Every year, there is righteous indignation among ratepayers and critics of the Tennessee Valley Authority about the bonuses paid to its top executives. This year, it’s no different.

TN Senator Lamar Alexander wants you to pay more for electricity.
“TVA could offer “smart meters” that would allow its 8.7 million customers to plug in their vehicles to “fill up” at night for only a few dollars in exchange for the customer paying more for electricity between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. when the grid is busy. ”
